Overview of Student Status

Duration of studies
The studies for obtaining the postgraduate degree are defined as two academic years, that is four (4) semesters for the full-time programme. Three semesters are devoted to courses, workshops and seminars, and the fourth semester is devoted to the preparation of the Master’s Thesis.
Maximum duration
The maximum time allowed for completion is set at four academic semesters. If a student requests an extension for reasons not related to part-time study or suspension, the request is examined by the Coordinating Committee and the Department Assembly and may be accepted under conditions.
Part-time study
Part-time study is available for working students and, under conditions, for students who cannot follow the full-time programme for health, family, military or similar reasons. Its duration may not exceed six (6) academic semesters.
Suspension of studies
Students may request suspension of studies once during their studies for documented serious reasons. The suspension period may not exceed twelve (12) months, that is two academic semesters. During the suspension, student status and the related rights are suspended.
Permanent discontinuation / deletion
Permanent discontinuation may take place after a written request by the student. Students may also be deleted from the programme due to faulty fulfilment of obligations, disciplinary offences or non-payment of fees. Fees already paid are not refunded in case of permanent discontinuation or deletion.
