Academic outreach

The programme supports activities that extend beyond regular teaching, connecting postgraduate study with research dissemination and public presence.

Research participation

Students are given opportunities to engage with conferences, seminars, publications and broader research initiatives in the field of theatre studies.

Scholarly exchange

Through lectures, collaborations and publications, the programme encourages dialogue with Greek and international academic communities.

Complementary Activities of the MA Programme

Within the framework of the MA Programme, a number of activities are defined as complementary, supporting both the academic development of students and the broader public presence of the programme.
Department website
In collaboration with the Undergraduate Studies Programme, the MA supports the development of the Department’s website, which provides useful information on the aims and operation of the Department, as well as on both the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of the Department of Theatre Studies.
European research network
The MA Programme participates in the European Network of Research and Documentation of Ancient Greek Drama Performances, expanding its connection with international research activity.

Publicity and Academic Visibility

Publicity programme
The programme develops publicity actions aimed at promoting globally the activities of the Postgraduate Studies Programme as well as the work of postgraduate students of both the first and second cycle of studies.
Series of lectures
As part of its lecture series, talks are delivered by Greek and foreign collaborators of the MA Programme, enriching the academic dialogue of the Department.
Conferences and seminars
The programme organises conferences and seminars with the active participation of postgraduate students, giving them the opportunity to present and promote the research carried out during their studies and to contribute to wider theatre scholarship.

Publications

Publishing activity is presented as a visible contribution of the postgraduate programme to the wider field of theatre research.
Scientific bulletin
The contribution of the postgraduate studies programme to the scientific bulletin of the Department of Theatre Studies, Paravasis, is especially emphasised. The journal includes recent findings in theatre research and reviews of books from international literature.
International orientation
The publication includes summaries in English and aims to create a platform for the exchange of ideas among scholars from different fields and from different European countries, with a focus on modern Greek theatre.
Paravasis
Paravasis is described as a periodical of the Department of Theatre Studies of the University of Athens, created to address the need for a purely scientific journal in theatre research, especially modern Greek theatre. It publishes research by Department staff and postgraduate-level work, while also remaining open to collaborations from university and non-university contexts in Greece and abroad. From volume 11 onward it is published in digital form.
