Thomas Tsalapatis was born in Athens in 1984. He studied at the Department of Theatre Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

His work spans poetry, playwriting, essays and cultural journalism. His poetry has been translated and published in several European languages.

Awards
  • 2012 — Greek State Award for a Debut Author for Dawn Is a Massacre, Mr Krak.
  • 2018 — First Prize in Poetry at the Premio InediTO at the Turin festival for the poetic sequence Incidents / Circostanze.
Encore / Drowning

In 2016, he wrote the texts for the performance Encore, directed by Theodoros Terzopoulos at Attis Theatre.

The performance texts were published in 2017 by Mov Skiouros under the title Drowning.

Monica Vitti No Longer Remembers

In 2018, his play Monica Vitti No Longer Remembers was first presented as a staged reading at Maison de la Poésie in Paris.

The presentation was directed by Laurence Campet and translated by Clio Mavroeidakos.

The play was later staged at Theatre 104, directed by Nicole Dimitrakopoulou, and was published in book form by Mov Skiouros the same year.

Playwriting
His theatrical writing is closely connected with poetry and dramaturgical composition, and his work has been presented both in Greece and internationally.
