Elina Daraklitsa is Assistant Professor of International Theatre and Drama at the Department of Theatre Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She is a graduate with honours from the Department of Arts, Music and Theatre (Discipline dell'Arte, di Musica e dello Spettacolo) of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Bologna, Italy and holds a PhD from the Department of Theatre Studies of the University of Peloponnese. She also did her postdoctoral research at the Department of Theatre Studies of the University of Patras. Her forty-nine studies have been published in academic journals and edited volumes in Greece and abroad on the history, drama, visual arts and aesthetics of European and American theatre, with emphasis on Italian theatre and its relations with Greek theatre. She has written eighteen books and she has received many international distinctions and awards for her scientific and artistic work (f.e. award from Unesco for the promotion of Greek literature and arts in Europe and the Luigi Pirandello Prize).
