Administration of the Postgraduate Programme

The administration of the Postgraduate Study Programme “Greek and World Theatre: Drama, Performance, Education” is carried out in accordance with the provisions of Law 4957/2022, the Internal Regulations of the Programme, and the decisions of the competent bodies of the Department of Theatre Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The administrative structure ensures the smooth operation of the Programme, the quality of studies, and the continuous improvement of its academic processes.

Governing Bodies

Department Assembly

The Department Assembly is the highest governing body of the Postgraduate Programme and makes decisions concerning its establishment, organisation, operation, and strategic development.

Steering Committee

The Steering Committee consists of faculty members of the Department and monitors the operation of the Postgraduate Programme, submitting recommendations on relevant matters to the Department Assembly.

Director of the Postgraduate Programme

The Director is responsible for the coordination, organisation, and smooth operation of the Postgraduate Study Programme.

Programme Secretariat

The Secretariat provides administrative support to students, teaching staff, and the governing bodies of the Postgraduate Programme.

Responsibilities of the Department Assembly

Main Responsibilities
  • Makes decisions on all matters concerning the organisation and operation of the Postgraduate Programme.
  • Appoints the Director and the members of the Steering Committee.
  • Approves the Programme's budget and financial report.
  • Approves the Programme Regulations and any amendments thereto.
  • Makes decisions on matters concerning students and the operation of the Postgraduate Programme.

Responsibilities of the Director of the Postgraduate Programme

Duties
  • Convenes and chairs meetings of the Steering Committee.
  • Coordinates the academic and administrative operation of the Postgraduate Programme.
  • Submits matters for discussion to the Steering Committee and the Department Assembly.
  • Monitors the implementation of decisions made by the competent governing bodies.
  • Ensures the smooth operation of the Programme and compliance with its Regulations.
  • Oversees the implementation of quality assurance procedures.
  • Represents the Postgraduate Programme whenever required.

Responsibilities of the Steering Committee

Functions
  • Monitors the overall operation of the Postgraduate Programme.
  • Coordinates the curriculum and the educational process.
  • Submits recommendations to the Department Assembly on matters concerning the development and enhancement of the Programme.
  • Examines matters concerning students and teaching staff.
  • Contributes to the quality assurance of the Programme.
  • Supports the Director in carrying out their duties.

Role of the Secretariat

Administrative Support
  • Provides administrative services to students of the Postgraduate Programme.
  • Maintains student records and administrative files.
  • Provides administrative support for meetings of the competent governing bodies.
  • Manages announcements and communication with students.
  • Provides information regarding the academic procedures of the Programme.

Cooperation between the Governing Bodies

The effective operation of the Postgraduate Programme is based on close cooperation between the Department Assembly, the Steering Committee, the Director, and the Secretariat. Each body exercises its responsibilities in accordance with the applicable legislation, the Internal Regulations, and the principles of transparency, sound administration, and quality assurance.

The participation of the Director and the members of the Steering Committee in the administration of the Postgraduate Programme is carried out without additional remuneration, in accordance with the applicable legislation and the Internal Regulations of the Postgraduate Study Programme.
