Dimitris Kataleifos is an actor and director. He was born in Athens in 1954 and his family origins are from Serifos and Smyrna.

He studied Law and acting at the Pelos Katselis Drama School, graduating from the latter in 1975. Throughout his long artistic career, he has collaborated with major theatre companies and directors in Greece.

Collaborations
Throughout his career, he has collaborated with numerous theatre companies and directors, including:
  • Antonis Antypas — “Aplo Theatro”
  • Spyros Evangelatos — “Amphi-Theatre”
“I Skini” and “Embros” Theatre

He was a founding member of the “I Skini” theatre company and of Embros Theatre, operated by the “Morfes” theatre organisation in the Psyrri district of Athens.

Both groups became important theatrical centres of their respective periods. “I Skini” was dissolved during the 1980s, while “Morfes” ceased operating in 2000.

Directing
He has directed for the theatre since 1998, beginning with

Don Juan Comes Back from the War at Embros Theatre.

  • Best Actor Award at the Thessaloniki Film Festival for his performance in Theophilos (1987).
  • First Emilios Veakis Prize for the period 2002-2004, for the productions The Weir and Three Steps Before.
  • Second Best Actor Award for his performance as Hugh O'Donnell in The Weir (2003).
  • First Best Actor Award from Athinorama magazine for his performance as Pastor Manders in Ghosts.
  • First Best Actor Award from Athinorama magazine for The Caretaker (2010-2011).
  • Best Actor Award at the “Prosopa 2008” television awards for the series 10.

He has taught acting at drama schools and educational institutions, including:
