DURATION OF STUDIES

Duration of Studies

The duration of studies for the award of the Master’s Degree of the MA “Greek and World Theatre: Dramaturgy, Performance, Education” is defined as two (2) academic years, that is four (4) semesters for the full-time programme.

Full-time study

The regular full-time programme extends over four academic semesters.

Part-time option

Part-time attendance is possible upon justified request and approval by the competent bodies.

Suspension of studies

Students may request temporary suspension of studies for serious reasons, under the terms set by the programme.

Full-time Duration

Regular duration
The full-time MA programme lasts four (4) academic semesters.
Teaching semesters
The first three (3) semesters are teaching semesters and include common and specialization courses, workshops, seminars and other educational and research activities of the MA.
Master’s Thesis
The fourth semester is allocated to the preparation of the Master’s Thesis.

Extension of Studies

An extension may be granted following a reasoned request by the student and approval by the Department Assembly.
Extension conditions
The extension may not exceed the number of semesters of the regular course of study of the MA.
Maximum duration
The maximum time allowed for the completion of studies is six (6) academic semesters.

Part-time Study

Eligibility
Part-time study is possible following a reasoned request by the student and approval by the Assembly or the Curriculum Committee.
Who may apply
The following are eligible to apply for part-time study:
  • students who have a proven record of working at least twenty (20) hours per week,
  • students with disabilities and special educational needs,
  • students who are active athletes under the conditions set by the applicable legislation.
Approval
Students under this category may be enrolled as part-time students upon application approved by the Dean’s Office of the School.
Maximum duration
The duration of part-time attendance shall not exceed eight (8) semesters. The maximum duration of study also applies in this case.

Suspension of Studies

Students who have not exceeded the maximum period of attendance may request suspension of their studies for serious reasons.
Maximum suspension period
Students may, upon a reasoned request to the Department Assembly, suspend their studies for a period not exceeding two (2) consecutive semesters.
Reasons
Suspension may be granted for serious reasons such as military service, illness, maternity or absence abroad.
Supporting documents
The application must be reasoned and accompanied by supporting documents issued by the competent public authorities or bodies proving the reasons for the suspension.
Student status
Student status is suspended during the period of suspension and participation in any educational process is not permitted. The semesters of suspension do not count towards the maximum regular study period.
Return to studies
At least two weeks before the end of the suspension period, the student must re-enrol in the programme in order to continue studies with the rights and obligations of an active student.
Early return
Students may terminate their suspension and return to the programme only if they have applied for suspension for two consecutive academic semesters. The relevant request must be submitted no later than two weeks before the beginning of the second semester of suspension.
Approval process
The duration of the suspension or any extension of the period of attendance is discussed and approved on a case-by-case basis by the competent committee, which then recommends it to the Departmental Assembly.
