Panagiota (Penny) Fylaktaki was born in Greece, in between a glorious past and a challenging future. In this whirlwind of inspiration, she works as a screenwriter, playwright and translator and her goal is high-quality storytelling in aspiring productions that can leave a lasting impression on the audience.
In the entertainment and film industry, her feature-length "Luger” was released in cinemas in December 2021 by Odeon, while her drama feature “Four Seasons Today” was Quarter-Finalist in the SCRIPTATION Showcase Los Angeles Script Competition 2021. She's also the writer of the drama series "Psychokores” (ANT1+/ANT1 2023-2024), nominated for best screenplay at Seoul International Drama Awards 2024, and the co-writer of the biography series “Maria: The Unknown Kallas” (ERTFLIX 2024), the first Greek series ever to participate in Berlinale Series Market Selects 2025. Her comedy series “Hotel Elvira”, which she co-writes with Vangelis Nassis, is to be aired in 2025 by MEGA channel, as well as the format-based drama series 'In Her Body" by ALPHA Channel.
She has written 21 theatre plays, 15 of which have been staged at the National Theatre of Greece and major theatre halls in Greece and abroad (London, Oxford, and New York). She was awarded the National Prize for Playwrights by the Greek Ministry of Culture (2004) and the Playwriting Competition Award by the Screenwriters' Guild of Greece (2017), while her play 'Lucrezia: Sinner or Saint' was nominated for Best Theatre Play 2020. Her play “The Building” represented Greece in the Forum of Contemporary Dramaturgy “Tribute to the Balkans” in 2014 while her play “Seaweeds” has been staged in the Greek Play Project New York in 2018 under the auspices of the Onassis Foundation, the Greek Ministry of Culture, and the National Theatre. Her plays have been translated into English and Spanish.
In the advertising field she has worked for Convey Communications and Perception branding companies, where she developed and produced corporate advertising video scripts for social awareness campaigns and commercials (CSL Behring, Siemens Healthineers, Greek Diabetes Association, Proelectro FIFA etc).
Since 2001 she has been working as a university lecturer in Playwriting, Creative Writing, Literary Translation and English Language at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the University of Western Macedonia, the Hellenic Open University, and the University of Peloponnese. She also teaches Scriptwriting, Adaptation for the Screen, and Storytelling Principles in ANT1 Scriptwriting School.
Her lifetime vocation is to lend a sympathetic ear to the stories waiting to be told!
