Rights - Obligations

This page outlines the basic rights, academic obligations and general study rules that apply to postgraduate students of the MA Programme.

Student rights

Postgraduate students are entitled to the academic rights and benefits provided by the University, with the specific provisions that apply to postgraduate studies.

Student obligations

Active participation in the academic and scientific life of the programme is considered an important part of postgraduate study.

Study rules

Compliance with academic regulations, deadlines and ethical standards is essential for the successful completion of the programme.

Orientation and Student Information

Welcome event
At the beginning of each academic year, the MA Programme organises a welcome event for new students, during which the President presents the programme of study, the electronic services students need to follow, and the general operation of the programme.
Introductory briefings
Short briefings are also offered by first-semester instructors at the beginning of their course lectures.

Student Rights

General benefits
Postgraduate students enjoy all rights and benefits granted to first-cycle students up to the expiry of any extension of study, except for the right to free textbooks.
Accessibility
The University ensures accessibility to suggested textbooks and teaching for students with disabilities and/or special educational needs.

The NKUA Liaison Office provides counselling support on studies and professional rehabilitation.

Diploma Supplement
Postgraduate students may request the issue of a Diploma Supplement in Greek and English.
Course evaluation
At the end of each semester, postgraduate students evaluate each course and each lecturer.

Student Obligations

Participation in activities
Postgraduate students are invited to participate in and attend:
  • research group seminars,
  • bibliographic information discussions,
  • laboratory visits,
  • conferences and meetings related to the subject of the MA,
  • lectures and other scientific events of the programme.
Academic consistency
Students are expected to comply with the MA regulations, academic deadlines and the principles of academic ethics.
Tuition fees
For participation in the MA “Greek and World Theatre: Drama, Performance, Education”, postgraduate students pay a tuition fee of 700 euros per semester. The fee is paid at the beginning of each semester.

Cases of Withdrawal

The Department Assembly, after recommendation by the competent body, may decide to withdraw a postgraduate student from the programme in specific cases.
Grounds for withdrawal
  • Exceeding the maximum number of absences.
  • Failure in course examinations and unsuccessful completion of the programme.
  • Exceeding the maximum duration of studies in the programme.
  • Failure to comply with applicable regulations on disciplinary offences.
  • Failure to pay the specified tuition fee.
  • Withdrawal at the student’s own request.
  • Inappropriate behaviour with regard to academic ethics.
After withdrawal
In case of withdrawal, a student may request a certificate for the courses that have been successfully completed.

International Mobility and Simultaneous Study

ERASMUS+ / CIVIS
Students may participate in international exchange programmes such as ERASMUS+ or CIVIS, in accordance with the applicable legislation and programme conditions. This opportunity is available after the first semester.
Recognition of credits
In the case of participation in an international exchange programme, the maximum number of ECTS that may be recognised is thirty (30).
Incoming exchange students
The MA Programme may also be attended by students from international exchange programmes, such as ERASMUS+, in accordance with the established partnerships.
Simultaneous study
It is possible to study simultaneously in an undergraduate and a postgraduate programme, or in two postgraduate programmes of the same or another Department, of the same or another University, in accordance with current legislation.
