Greek and World Theatre: Drama, Performance, Education

STUDENTS

Duration of studies

The studies for obtaining the Postgraduate Diploma of the PMS "Greek and World Theatre: Dramaturgy, Performance, Education" are defined in two academic years, i.e. in four (4) semesters for the full-time program, of which three are teaching semesters by attending common courses and specialization courses, workshops and seminars and any other type of educational and research activities of the PMS and the fourth is available for the preparation of the Master's Thesis.

The maximum time allowed to complete the studies is set at four (4) academic semesters. In the event that the MF requests an extension of studies for reasons that do not fall under the cases of partial studies or suspension of studies - as described below - the request will be examined by the Coordinating Committee (SC) and the Department Assembly and may be accepted subject to conditions.

Partial Study

For MF employees, the possibility of part-time study is provided when the student cannot meet the requirements of the full-time study program. Part-time study is also provided for non-working students who are unable to meet the requirements of full-time study for health, family, military reasons, etc. The duration of part-time study cannot exceed 6 (six) academic semesters. During the registration period of each semester, the student has the right to request with his/her application to be included in the part-time study program. The relevant declaration will not be able to be made after registration in the third semester.

The detailed Program of Part-time Courses is the same as the corresponding Full-time Program, with the difference that the part-time student attends and is examined in 2 or 3 courses from those offered respectively in the A ́, B ́ and C ́ semesters of the Program Full-time studies.

Suspension of Education

The MF can request suspension of his/her studies once during his/her studies at PMS. The suspension is granted by decision of the Assembly following a recommendation from the Coordinating Committee and as long as the application is accompanied by the necessary supporting documents for demonstrably serious reasons (e.g. health, military service, family reasons). The period cannot exceed twelve (12) months, i.e. two academic semesters and be shorter or part of the academic semester. Permission to suspend studies for more than one year can only be granted in exceptional cases, after a recommendation from the Coordinating Committee (SC) and a decision of the Department Assembly. The semesters of suspension of student status are not counted towards the prescribed maximum duration of normal studies

In the case of suspension of studies, the MF must join the corresponding semester of the following two-year program in order to continue his studies. During the suspension of studies, student status is revoked and all related rights are suspended. The student status is recovered after the end of the suspension. The MF, after the end of his/her suspension of studies, is obliged to attend all courses, workshops, seminars in which he/she was not evaluated or was not successfully evaluated before the suspension of his/her studies. After the end of his/her suspension of studies, the MF is subject to the study status of his/her registration time as MF.

Permanent Discontinuation of Study / Deletion

Definitive interruption of studies can be done after submitting a relevant written request of the student to the Coordinating Committee (SC) and the Assembly, an act which is irreversible.

MF can be deleted from the PMS for the following reasons:

  • due to faulty fulfillment of his/her MF's obligations, as described in this Regulation.
  • due to disciplinary offenses of his/her MF.
  • due to non-payment of the prescribed fees.

The deletion is made after a relevant proposal of the SE of the PMS to the Assembly of the Department and the taking of a relevant decision by the latter body. The relevant decision is notified within fifteen (15) days to the concerned MF and he/she has the right to submit an objection within one month from the date of issuance of the relevant decision. The appeal is judged by the above bodies. In the event of a permanent interruption of studies or cancellation of the MF, for any reason, the fees already paid are not refunded.
